Hand Dryer Choices

Hand Dryer Choices can be Confusing

Are you looking for the cheapest hand dryer just to get rid of paper towel costs and no other reason?  Many of our customers don’t want to pay $400 or more for a high speed hand dryer that dries hands in super-fast 10 seconds.  If that’s the case, try our #1 suggested discount hand dryer, the American Dryer GX1.  It’s a low cost solution to eliminating paper towel.  For the cost, it’s a solid hand dryer taking about 30 seconds to dry hands.

But if you really want a fast hand dryer at the cheapest cost, consider the EcoStorm.  At the time of this article, you can get one out the door with free shipping for about $300.  It comes with a 3 year warranty and is made from recycled materials.  The dry time is about 15 seconds and the energy consumption is quite impressive.  For about 40 more dollars, you can move up to the BluStorm.  It offers a 5 year warranty and a 10-15 second dry time.

The next step up is not all that much of a jump to something like the American Dryer GXT9, which gives you the flexibility of a high speed unit with an adjustable motor for controlling sound.  The GXT9 is quite a leader in the hand dryer industry with break-through cutting edge technology.

The Xlerator is always a top choice as it has become a leader in the industry setting standards for other high speed hand dryers to follow.  It is USA made and comes with a 5 year warranty.  It is one of the most solid, durable, fast drying machines available.    Excel Dryer makes them in Massachusetts and the quality of this hand dryer is top notch.

If you really want the most prestigious hand dryers on the market, take a look at the Dyson Airblade.  This unique dryer blasts air up to 400 MPH and dries both sides of the hands simultaneously using an Air Knife technology to create thin strips of air which scrape water from the hands.  The HEPA filter eliminates 99.9% of all bacteria from the air and it is the only hand dryer to achieve National Sanitation Foundation approval.  In fact, the Dyson hand dryer also comes in an Aluminum cover (AB02), which is the only hand dryer certified for food lines, kitchen staff, or anywhere that food may be prepared.

Mathew the 3 Year Old Hand Dryer Review Expert Strikes Again

My 3 year old son Mathew, the hand dryer review expert from ProDryers was at it again this past weekend when we took him to a local indoor mini-golf, go-cart, jump-zone, laser tag, bumper cars, mini-bowling, and arcade. It’s an all in one family fun zone. Mathew had the time of his life for 3 long hours before he finally gave into his urge to go potty. Of course, the restroom was missing his favorite feature, a high speed hygienic hand dryer. Mathew’s first notice was the lack of hand dryers, and he just frowned. The paper towel machine was working just fine, which was a relief to both of us as we have all too often experienced paper towel dispensers that clear ran out of paper. However, the waste receptacle was overflowing with paper towel and the floors were filled with the unhygienic paper mess. Businesses should consider moving from paper towel to the powerful energy efficient hand dryers that pay for themselves in just a few short months of paper towel cost savings. Even when eliminating paper towel is not an option, at least majorly reducing the waste of paper towel can be achieved.

Hand Dryers Eliminate Paper Mess

A Clean, Hygienic Restroom Leaves a Positive Impression

Mathew suggests the Xlerator, ExtremeAir or Dyson Airblade. All three are his favorite machines, and all three are high quality products.

Hand Dryers Reduce Bacteria and Germs

Hand Dryers Bacteria Germs

Hand Dryers Reduce Bacteria and Germs

Hand Dryers today use break-through, cutting edge technology to dry hands in record time. Below are just 5 simple quick facts:

  1. Paper Towel has been proven to collect massive amounts of bacteria.
  2. Bacteria lives and breeds in damp wet places, such as used paper towel.
  3. Rubbing the hands together or on a material such as paper towel, brings skin cells rich in bacteria to the surface.
  4. Paper Towel Dispensers often run out of paper towel, leaving users with no solution to drying hands and promotes the spreading of germs.
  5. Damp hands are responsible for spreading up to 1000 times more bacteria than dry hands.

Now, let’s look at just 5 quick benefits hand dryers such as the Dyson Airblade, Excel Dryer Xlerator, and American Dryer ExtremeAir deliver in reducing bacteria and the spread of germs:

  1. Today’s new fast hand dryers dry hands in as little as 10 seconds, completely.
  2. Paper Towel is reduced or even eliminated.
  3. Many surfaces of hand dryers are antimicrobial infused.
  4. Some units such as the Dyson Airblade use HEPA filters, which eliminate 99.9% of all bacteria in the air.
  5. These Hand Dryers never run out of paper towel which eliminates the unhygienic mess adn bacteria breeding ground.

At ProDryers, we don’t recommend totally eliminating paper towel in all cases, as some users still prefer paper. It depends on the scenario, but often, our customers prefer to keep a paper towel dispenser and waste receptacle near the door for minimal usage during exits. However, many of our customers also prefer eliminating paper towel all together achieving maximum cost savings. The Hand Dryers mentioned above will pay for themselves in just a few months. The expected life of most high quality units will be 7-10 years; which will save you thousands of dollars over the life of the dryer. Furthermore, you will find a cleaner, friendlier, more hygienic restroom resulting in happier customers and a reduced level of bacteria and spreading of germs.

I Need a Fast and Quiet Hand Dryer

One of the most popular questions asked by our customers is:  Do you sell a quiet hand dryer that still dries hands fast?  This is the toughest question we receive because the faster a hand dryer dries hands, the more powerful the air speed is, which in turn, raises the decibel level.  There is no easy guess at what one may accept as a “quiet” decibel level while also accepting the speed of the air used to dry hands.  Thus, we have a top recommendation when our customers ask us for a fast, yet quiet hand dryer.

The ExtremeAir GXT 9 by American Dryer offers an adjustable motor.  You can actually control the motor by a dial (found under the cover).  This allows you full control over the noise level vs. the speed.  There are other adjustable motor style hand dryers that we offer, but none that allow the user the level of customization they receive from the American Dryer Extreme Air GXT9 or EXT7 Series hand dryers.  At the highest setting, the Extreme Air will dry hands as fast as any hand dryer in its class at about 10-15 seconds.  We have tested even at the lowest setting, and it still offers quite a fair dry time and offers noise levels in the low 60 decibel range.  The Extreme Air is made in America, right here in Livonia, MI near Detroit, Michigan.  The manufacturer offers an excellent warranty of 5 years on the hand dryer parts.  It’s good to know that American made products are still among the highest quality products on earth.

There are many other features that make the Extreme Air GXT 9 hand dryer a superior hand drying machine.  But, if your main concern is buying a hand dryer that is effective at drying hands, yet offers you the ability to determine what is acceptable as quiet and effective, buy the American made Extreme Air GXT9 hand dryer.

Paper Towel Dispensers Out Of Paper Create Unhygienic Restrooms

We took the family to the Ringling Bros Circus at a sports stadium in Michigan. My son Mathew was very upset with the restroom design. We used the family restrooms which were unisex and all adults had to be accompanied by a child. It was a very strange concept, but that wasn’t the issue. The bathroom stalls were tiny and I could barely maneuver around without touching the walls. My son also had a tight squeeze as both of us tried to fit inside the partitions. Keep in mind; these restrooms were designed for parents to take their children to the restroom. I understand why space would be consolidated, but also, in doing so, it really restricts the comfort zones of parents and children.

Of course paper towel dispensers were in place with automatic motion sensors. I have never seen the brand they used before, but the sensors didn’t work and people couldn’t get the towels out. Two of the three paper towel units were clear out of paper and there was a long line to use the broken paper towel dispenser so most people were leaving with completely wet hands and tracking water all over the restroom floors. This made for a very unhygienic and unpleasant experience.

Paper towel dispensers can be hygienic when used properly, however, in most cases, paper towel dispensers create this exact scenario where either the machines are broken or the paper towel has run out. This is why we suggest using high quality hand dryers that actually work in 10-15 seconds, while also using paper towel dispensers sparingly.

By installing high speed, effective, and energy efficient hand dryers such as the Excel Dryer Xlerator, the American Dryer ExtremeAir, or the Dyson Airblade just to name a few, this stadium could have avoided this ugly restroom scenario that had so many parents angry. Not only would the hand dryers bring a more hygienic and friendly atmosphere, they would pay for themselves in just months and save the stadium hundreds of thousands of dollars over the lifetime of the dryers. Did you know damp hands are responsible for spreading up to 1,000 times more bacteria than dry hands? It’s fair to assume in this scenario, the spreading of bacteria was at a high level due to the floods of people leaving the restroom with wet hands since the paper towel was out in 2 of the 3 paper towel dispensers.

Hopefully America will continue to move in the right direction and spare the tress while saving energy and money all while creating a cleaner and more hygienic restroom. And most importantly, keep the customers happy…

Saniflow Introduces The Super Fast Machflow Electric Hand Dryer

Machflow hand dryer

Saniflow has introduced the all new Machflow hand dryer as the newest hand dryer to hit the market.  The Machflow moves air at speeds up to 203 MPH, blasting hands dry in 10 seconds.  This unique hand dryer uses no heating element and offers an adjustable motor allowing customization for facilities that require a quiet, yet effective hand dryer.  The Machflow comes in white epoxy, bright stainless steel, and satin stainless steel covers.  The design offers an elegant look and feel for the finest of restrooms.  The Machflow is a great fit for high traffic restrooms such as stadiums, venues, rest areas, zoos, fitness centers, gyms, health clubs, hotels, public schools, colleges, universities, restaurants, car dealerships, casinos, airports, state parks, city parks, public swimming pools, camp grounds, and more.

The Saniflow Machflow hand dryer is also a good choice for schools and daycare centers where small children are present.  Small children are often intimidated by loud noise, and hot air.  With the Machflow, the motor can be adjusted to allow a softer hand drying experience, plus the air blown onto the hands is cool air.

The Saniflow Machflow hand dryer completes Saniflow’s full high speed product line.  By offering 3 unique high speed hand dryers, the ADA compliant Speedflow, ADA compliant Dualflow, and Machflow, give Saniflow a complete product offering to fit every facilities fast hand drying requirements.

The Machflow is also one of the quietest high speed hand dryers on the market.  Saniflow claims the decibel range is 68-75.  The Machflow also offers a unique design to reduce vibrations and increase motor life.  It’s backed by a manufacturer’s 10 year limited parts warranty.  The Machflow offers universal voltage of 110-240 and will auto configure itself to run on whatever voltage is detected, making installation less complicated and less expensive while it reduces the risk of human error.

There are other hand dryers that operate similarly to the Machflow.  One outstanding USA made hand dryer to consider is the ExtremeAir EXT hand dryer.  The EXT7 (Extreme Air EXT) also offers an adjustable motor with no heating element.  Both of these hand dryers are very comparable, and either one is actually a solid choice where and adjustable motor and heat-less drying experience is desired.  The ExtremeAir GXT9 and EXT7 series hand dryers also offer universal voltage that will detect which voltage should be utilized.

Why choose a heat-less, cool air hand dryer?  Besides the reason where small children may prefer the no heat hand dryers, heat-less hand dryers also save more energy than hand dryers with the heating element.  The Machflow hand dryer can use as little as 420 watts at the lowest setting whereas the Extreme Air EXT series hand dryers use about 540 watts (Hardly a noticeable difference).  However, the heating element along with the fastest dry times usually results in about 1500 watts for most high speed, warm air hand dryers.  The Machflow uses 1150 watts at the highest setting due to the lack of heat.  To get an idea of what this means, American Dryer has made it simple with the Extreme Air.  They have two versions.  1.  The EXT (no heat), and 2. The GXT (with heat).  Basically, the EXT can cost as little as 18 cents to operate per 1,000 uses, and the GXT or heated version can cost around 42 cents per 1,000 uses.  Using this measurement, we can get a feel for what other high speed electric hand dryers may cost to operate, and you’ll find they are all very effective at saving electricity.

Hand Dryers and Baby Changing Stations In Car Dealership Restrooms

My 3 year old son / hand dryer expert from ProDryers.com was very disappointed in a local car dealership.  We had to pick up a new lease yesterday, and Mathew’s favorite objects on earth are cars.  He just couldn’t pass up the chance of visiting the car dealership and seeing all the different cars.  I even took him out in the huge garage where he was amazed to see mechanics working on cars everywhere.  It was like Christmas for him.  However, the dealership took its time with us and soon, Mathew had to go potty.  He isn’t the easiest kid to get to use the bathroom when we are out in public places.  Being the hand dryer expert that he is, I can usually get him into the men’s room by asking him if he thinks they might have hand dryers in the restroom.  He is always curious.  This time, he was very disappointed that they only had paper towel; and the dispensers were out of paper to make it worse.  Paper mess was visible throughout the restroom, and the hygiene level was one of the worst we have seen in a restroom.  To make matters worse, there were no baby changing stations available for parents that had babies.  Mathew said “it’s dirty daddy”; he wasn’t happy at all.

This car dealership has put heavy efforts into the design and lighting of the showroom, as any dealership would.  But to overlook the importance of a hygienic, family-friendly restroom is a mistake many businesses make.  The percentage of buyers browsing the showroom that may need to use the restroom is far too high to ignore.  Leaving a bad feeling from the restroom experience can create a negative perception of the car dealership as a whole.  I know in Mathew’s case, it did.  And the percentage of car shoppers that have small children with them, or even babies, may be small, but still, the number is too important to overlook.  It is vital to a business’s reputation to create a positive experience in 100% of the situations a customer may encounter, and that means the restroom as well.

We have had positive success stories from car dealerships that have purchased prestigious hand dryers such as the Dyson Airblade or Mitsubishi Jet Towel.  The customers leave the restroom feeling as they should in this type of an environment.  The Dyson Airblade hand dryer and Mitsubishi Jet Towel are hygienic, high quality, and on the cutting edge of technology; both the perfect hand dryers for car dealerships where impressing the customer is an important step of converting shoppers to buyers.  These hand dryers will even create a free word-of-mouth advertising campaign, and may even lead to some viral activity on social networks.  And if that isn’t enough reason to install the Dyson Airblade or Mitsubishi Jet Towel, think of all the money a dealership can save annually in paper towel costs.

Stay tuned for Mathew’s next restroom experience in his quest for the most hygienic restrooms.

All Public Restrooms Should Be Designed With Children In Mind

Kids in Restrooms

The other day I was in Home Depot with my 3 year old son. Mathew was wiggling like most 3 year olds do when they have to go potty. Mathew is a hand dryer expert at just the age of 3 as he loves to demo our top selling hand dryers such as the Xlerator, Extreme Air, Dyson Airblade, Speedflow and more. His favorite is the Xlerator by Excel Dryer. He also loves the American Dryer ExtremeAir because that’s what we have installed in our own restrooms. Getting Mathew to go potty in the men’s restroom can be quite a chore when we are out in public. I never understood the design of commercial restrooms and why they normally lack a kid-friendly environment. Maybe all the people in the world that design public restrooms don’t have kids? Or maybe they don’t think kids need to use the restrooms? A huge percentage of people in the world have kids. Overlooking kids’ needs in the restroom is a hug issue from a parent’s point of view. Most mothers and fathers would agree; when we find baby changing stations or anything child or baby-friendly in the restrooms, we associate that business as a positive, kid-friendly business and would immediately feel we will most definitely be back to shop their again. Although the Home Depot did not have a children’s urinal, Mathew didn’t care. They had a very nice look and feel to the tiled floors and walls, everything was very clean, and most importantly they had Mathew’s favorite hand dryer, the Xlerator, and in stainless steel! Right away, he said, “daddy, dey have da good hand dwyer”. Needless to say, Mathew was more than happy to use the restroom, and yes, we will be back to Home Depot with no worries as they have one of the nicest public restrooms we have seen. Mathew and I agree that the Xlerator hand dryer helped make our experience a positive one, and all parents know, happy kids make happy parents. Now if only we could get the men’s restrooms to include urinals low enough for my little guy to use.
